U.S. Import Tariffs - What You Need to Know

Are U.S Tariffs Applicable?

Yes. As our products are manufactured and shipped from Ireland, all orders delivered to the United States are treated as imports and are subject to U.S. import duties, tariffs, and applicable state taxes.

These charges are set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and are paid by the importer.

What Tariff Rate Should I Expect?

Tariff rates can change and depend on the product type, country of origin, HTS code and U.S. customs rules in force at the time your order enters the United States.

Because of this, we do not recommend using a fixed percentage as a general estimate. Instead, the most accurate way to check your expected import charges is to use our prepaid duties and taxes option at checkout, where available.

How Are Duties and Tariffs Collected?

You have three options;

1) Prepay Duties and Tariffs (Recommended)

Where available, we can calculate your landed cost before your order ships using a third-party landed-cost service.

This means:

  • You can see the expected duties, taxes and import charges before shipment
  • The amount you pay is fixed at the time of payment
  • You should not receive additional customs duty or tariff charges on delivery
  • Customs clearance is usually faster and smoother
  • You avoid unexpected courier brokerage charges where these are included in the prepaid amount

Please note that palletised shipments cannot be prepaid.

2) Courier Collects Before Delivery

If duties are not prepaid, the courier (e.g. UPS / FedEx) will act as the customs broker and submit the shipment to U.S. Customs.

U.S. Customs determines the applicable duties and tariffs at import.

The courier will:

  • Advance the duties and tariffs on your behalf
  • Apply any brokerage or processing fees
  • Contact you to collect payment before delivery

    3) Use Your Own Customs Broker

If you work with your own customs broker, or would like duties and tariffs billed directly to your courier account, this is fully supported.

    Please:

    • Provide your broker details or UPS / FedEx account number
    • Notify us before shipment so we can correctly assign billing

This ensures charges are billed directly to your account rather than to the shipment recipient.

HS Codes and Country of Origin

If you do not choose the prepay option, you may want to ensure the correct classification and country of origin has been used.

    Review your customs bill:
    • Verify that the correct duties and tariffs have been applied.

    • The item details match your order.

    • No extra or incorrect charges are included.
